Lagrimas De Mis Madres
Lagrimas de Mis Madres was originally commissioned and produced by Shotgun Productions. Shotgun Productions is a not-for-profit theatrical production company dedicated to expanding the roles and serving the needs of emerging artists through the development of new works.
Lagrimas De Mis Madres first performance was in 1996 at the Asia Society, as part of a mixed-media theatrical piece called Tides of Intolerance dedicated to an all female cast presenting various works against racial oppression. In collaboration with director, Stewart Schulman, Lagrimas de Mis Madres was further developed and was selected for Shotgun Productions new playwrights series in 2000 and was developed as a workshop production off Broadway in 2003.
Since 1998, Ms. Aponte has been performing her one woman show nationally at various colleges and universities for Womens’ History Month and Hispanic Heritage Month.
