With over 20 plus years of academic and career counseling in Higher Education, Maria has worked extensively with students and members of her community on a wide range of professional development workshops to encourage and enhance interpersonal skills, using the art of personal storytelling to develop strategies for career and artistic development. The following workshops are flexible for students and adults. They can be crafted towards the needs of the groups.
Critical Thinking Workshops
In the fast pace social media environment that we live in today, developing a well thought out plan of action for personal development is key to bring your true self across to colleagues and employers.
The Think Workshop
In this workshop we explore what is our thinking process and how we create an outline for bringing our thoughts into action. What is our purpose in what we pursue? How does it help us grow? What outcome do we want to accomplish? This an interactive workshop and self-creative materials will be provided by Ms. Aponte as Facilitator.
Think Before We Speak Workshop
The power of language can make or break many things in life. In this workshop we will explore how our actions are dictated by words and the power words carry. Do we think before we speak? Are we thinking about we say or are we reacting to what is around us? What are the consequences of not having good dialogue? What are the outcomes of a positive conversation and negative one? This workshop is an interactive workshop where participants will be asked to journal and share their inner findings with the group.
What is in a Story?
Communication is key to developing good listening skills, processing information before responding to the circumstances. But what is in our story? What do we want to convey to our audience or person? How do develop an interesting story about us that is memorable and meaningful? How do we create positive community? In this workshop we explore the story of self. By using writing exercises participants will be able to outline, individualize tailored stories that can be a positive tool for interviewing, negotiating professional areas in career paths in all areas.
Empathy is not a weakness.
Care of other and making mental and emotional space for others has become a difficult terrain to navigate in todays social and cultural environment. In this workshop participants will be guided through exercises and thoughtful dialogue on the importance of empathy for our fellow human beings. How do we interpret empathy? Do we use it in our daily lives? Is empathy a weakness or a strength?
Workshop Information
All workshops are two hours and can accommodate up to 25 participants. Please contact Maria Aponte at maaponte55@gmail.com for bookings and workshop fees.
